Last updated: 14 August 2026

Lydia Fine Art (“we”, “us”, “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This policy explains what personal information we collect through lydiafineart.com.au, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

Who we are

Lydia Fine Art is an independent artist studio based in Melbourne, Australia. If you have any questions about this policy or your personal information, please see the Contact us section at the end of this page.

The personal information we collect

We only collect personal information that you choose to give us, or that is needed to run the website securely. This includes:

  • Newsletter sign-ups – your email address, when you join our mailing list.
  • Enquiries (Contact form) – your name, email address, the artwork you are enquiring about, and the message you send us.
  • Commission requests – your name, email address, phone number, and the details you provide about the painting you would like (subject, where it will hang, approximate size, and any other notes).
  • Technical information collected automatically – when you visit the site, our hosting and security systems record limited technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device information, and the pages you view. This is used to keep the site running, secure, and free of spam.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive information, and we do not process online payments through this website.

How we use your information

We use the personal information we collect to:

  • respond to your enquiries and discuss and fulfil commission requests;
  • send you our newsletter and studio updates, where you have asked to receive them;
  • operate, maintain, secure, and improve the website; and
  • protect the site and our visitors from spam, fraud, and abuse.

We will only use your information for the purpose you provided it, for a directly related purpose, or where you would reasonably expect us to, unless you consent otherwise or we are required or permitted by law.

Cookies and similar technologies

This website uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for it to work properly – for example, to remember form sessions, to cache pages so they load quickly, and to operate our spam protection. Embedded content, such as video, may also set its own cookies (see below). We do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics/tracking cookies on this site. You can set your browser to refuse cookies, though some parts of the site may not function as intended.

Who we share your information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with trusted service providers who help us run the website and communicate with you, and only to the extent needed to provide their service:

  • Mailchimp (Intuit Inc.) – our email marketing platform, used to store newsletter subscribers and send our newsletter.
  • Cloudflare, Inc. – provides our form spam protection (Cloudflare Turnstile) and website security, which processes limited technical data such as your IP address to tell humans from bots.
  • Vimeo, Inc. – hosts the introductory film embedded on the site; when the video loads, Vimeo may receive technical data and set cookies.
  • Our web hosting and email providers – who store the website, form submissions, and deliver our email notifications.

We may also disclose personal information where required or authorised by law.

Overseas disclosure

Some of the service providers listed above (including Mailchimp/Intuit, Cloudflare, and Vimeo) are based in, or store data in, the United States and other countries. By using this website and providing your information, you acknowledge that your personal information may be handled outside Australia. We take reasonable steps to use reputable providers that protect your information.

Direct marketing and unsubscribing

If you join our mailing list, we will send you occasional studio updates and news. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time – we will action your request promptly. Our email marketing complies with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).

How we keep your information secure

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access, including secure hosting, encrypted connections (HTTPS), and access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

How long we keep your information

We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. Enquiry and commission details are kept for as long as needed to assist you and for our reasonable business records, after which they are deleted or de-identified.

Accessing and correcting your information

You have the right to ask for access to the personal information we hold about you and to ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate or out of date. To make a request, please contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify your identity first.

Complaints

If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.
